Inspiration is the foundation of my artwork and it requires a keen imagination and sensitivity to my surroundings.  So many artistic opportunities present themselves as mere whispers to me, and my sensitivity to these visions is what is most important to bring the inspiration fully and passionately to the canvas.

Occasionally, just one subject presents a complete visual story to me, but often, a combination of several current and past experiences and feelings makes the story whole. Many years of observation, from life and travels near and far, have given me a rich mental library of inspirational subject matter from which to create my artwork.

In my paintings, light is the star attraction with color playing an important supporting role. Careful study of light and color interaction helps me to understand the different feelings evoked so that I can apply these observations to canvas. Years of mixing colors and applying thick and thin paint layers makes it possible to translate these observations into my artwork. Balancing inspiration, observation, and practice is a lifetime journey and one that takes me to new artistic heights year after year.
